How to Blitz Quality Area 6

As early childhood educators, we know the importance of developing and maintaining supportive relationships with families through ongoing communication. This importance is highlighted in Quality Area 6 “Collaborative partnerships with families and communities”.

While nothing can replace face to face contact, the reality is, ongoing face to face communication isn’t always possible. And, often we want to be able to share with families in real time: to let parents know their child has settled, their child has achieved a significant milestone, or their child is unwell. And, families may also want to be able to share with educators in real time: to ask a question, to share achievement of significant milestones, or to share information from allied health professionals. This is all possible with EarlyWorks!

How does EarlyWorks enhance ongoing communication with families?

  • Educators can share observations, journals, learning stories, and planned experiences as they are created. Then, families can provide feedback by adding comments to observations and learning journals (6.1., 6.1.3, 6.2, 6.2.1).
  • Educators and families can add comments at any time. As soon as these comments are created both families and educators can be notified with push notifications and alerts within EarlyWorks (6.2, 6.2.1, 6.2.2).
  • Educators can share images with families in multiple ways: as part of observations, journals and planning; attached to a comment; or just as an image (6.1., 6.1.3, 6.2, 6.2.1).
  • Families can also share images with educators when they add comments: a wonderful way to gain insight into family experiences and to capture those experiences in the programme (6.1.2, 6.2).
